Sex on the Beach

There are a few different variations of this drink around, but below is the traditional (Missionary?) build.

2 oz    Vodka
1 oz    Peach Schnapps
2 oz    Orange Juice
2 oz    Cranberry Juice

Fill highball (or regular 12 oz drinking glass) 3/4 with ice.
Add Vodka & Schnapps.
Stir.
Add OJ & Cranberry.
Stir.
Garnish with an orange slice & cherry.

Be careful about the sand...it chafes!

Tequila Sunrise

While "The Dude" from The Big Lebowski may not care for the namesake*, this is quite a good morning cocktail.  Kinda like a Mimosa for real drinkers.

2 oz              Tequila
                    Orange juice
2 dashes      Grenadine

Fill highball (or regular 12 oz drinking glass) 1/2 with ice.
Add Tequila.
Fill with orange juice, leaving about 2" from the top empty.
Stir.
Tilt the glass to almost the "spill point" while quickly adding dashes of grenadine (a pour-spout makes this a LOT easier).  The heavy grenadine should sink to the bottom, and when you put the glass back down (quickly), it will slowly rise up then fall back down.

Mmmm, mmmm.  "Tequila" - It's What's For Breakfast!

*if you've made it all the way down here and don't know, it's an Eagles song

Orange Crush

It's Friday!
This week's recipe - as the Subject Line implies - should remind you of the sweet, kinda-orangey soda:

1.5 oz    Vodka
1 oz       Cointreau (Triple Sec is a good budget substitute; if you wanna get REALLY crazy, use Blue Curacao for an unnatural color)

5 oz       Club Soda

1 tsp      Sugar

1            lime wedge

Fill regular drinking glass (12 oz) 3/4 with ice.
Add Vodka, Cointreau, sugar and squeeze of lime.
Stir.
Fill with club soda.
Stir gently.
Wax nostalgic about other sugary-sweet things you used to enjoy as a kid that would only be better with BOOZE!

Cream Soda

1.5 oz    Vanilla Rum
5 oz       Ginger Ale
Fill regular drinking glass (12 oz) 3/4 with ice.  Add rum and ginger ale.  Stir (lightly).
Simple, effective, and tastes just like a cream soda.

Long Island Tea

1/2 oz    Vodka
1/2 oz    Gin
1/2 oz    Rum
1/2 oz    Tequila
1/2 oz    Triple Sec
7.5 oz    Sweet & Sour Mix (unlike my usual mixer snobbery, the pre-made stuff is fine for this)
splash    Coca-Cola

This really calls for using a pint glass, otherwise you're not going to be able to put in enough mixer.  Unless you don't WANT much mixer...in which case I recommend a very large glass of water and two Advil before you go night-night...

Anyway, fill the glass 3/4 full with ice.  Add all liquors.  Stir.  Add Sweet & sour until almost full.  Stir again.  Slowly add splashes of Coke while stirring until the proper "Iced Tea" color is reached.

Enjoy.

Unless you have the tolerance level of a... me, then don't drink a bunch of these.  They are creepers and you will regret it.

Flaming Dr Pepper

Per request:
1 oz        Amaretto
1/2 oz     151 Rum (any brand, but MUST be 151 proof...or higher)
12 oz      Beer (I prefer Shiner for the color...and it's the best beer in the world, too)

OK, here we go.  Pour the Amaretto into a shot glass; it should be ~2/3 full.  Slowly pour the rum on top (I use a cherry or spoon to make this easier).  DRUM ROLL PLEASE!  Light the rum on fire.  WOO-HOO!
Drop the lit shot (glass & all) into a glass full of beer.
Chug.

And hey, let's be careful out there!

Sorry

I'm putting out too many fires right now, so no recipe.  Instead, I invite you to enjoy this picture of Tom Cruise from Cocktail.

Strawberry Daiquiri

CRAIG STILL SAYS :  "Stay away from the ready-made mixes.  They are crap by comparison."

2 oz        Rum  (I prefer a spiced rum for this one - the mild hint of vanilla really works)
4
Large Strawberries (sliced)
1 oz
Lime Juice
2 tbsp     Sugar

~cup       Ice

Dump it all in together & blend until smooth. Strawberry slice & small dollop of whipped cream for garnish.

Pina Colada

CRAIG SAYS:  "Stay away from the ready-made mixes.  They are crap by comparison."

1.5 oz     Light Rum
2 oz        Cream of Coconut
2 oz        Pineapple Juice
~cup       Ice

Dump it all in together & blend until smooth.  Pineapple slice & cherry for garnish.

Straws are good, too, but lead to a quicker ice cream headache...
