Churchill's Holiday

I'm not really sure about the origin of this drink's name.  After all, Winston Churchill was a notorious gin martini drinker, not a bourbon connoisseur.  Once asked how much vermouth he would like in his martini he was quoted as saying: "I would like to observe the vermouth from across the room while I drink my martini."

In any event, this is a bourbon cocktail.  Why bourbon?  Because September is National Bourbon Heritage Month.  Now we have yet another reason to love September along with school starting again, NFL season starting, a VIP birthday,  and Labor Day.  So pick any of those for the "Holiday" part of the name, ignore the "Churchill" part, and enjoy this autumn cocktail.

  5. There aren't any "Hockey Mask" or "Machete" or "Screaming Topless Camp Counselor" cocktails.

Though I might have to just make one up for the latter...

  6. Challenge Accepted!!!It took all of 2 sec to find some out on the net (Hockey Mask for F13th and Machete for May5th below)...REALLY? Come on man...you are better than this! BUT...it would be nice to have a "Screaming Topless Camp Counselor" Shot (she takes the shot, then the topless happens :-) ... so are you up for that challenge? I guess I will have to wait and see what you post next Friday...

    Friday the 13th Part III

Yes, this was the first movie where Jason used the iconic hockey mask, so it seemed only right to come up with a cocktail that somehow resembled it.

    The Hockey Mask

    Ingredients:
•4 measures of milk (preferably full fat)
•1 measure of overproof white rum
    •1 measure Irish cream
    •Grenadine

    Method:
1.Mix (shake) the rum, Irish cream and milk with a cocktail shaker over ice.
2.Strain mixture into a small cocktail glass.
3.Now the fun bit, get creative with the grenadine. Try to make the red droplets resemble the mask and/or blood in some way. It’s kind of hard to explain how exactly…

Representing the three colors of the Mexican flag. Serve the drink in three separate shot glasses.

Ingredients: White Shot (1 shot glass tequila blanco), Green Shot (1 shot glass fresh lime juice), Red Shot (1 shot glass of Machete Sangre).

Machete Sangre Recipe: (Makes enough for 12 shots) 3/4 cup orange juice, 3/4 cup tomato juice, 1/4 cup fresh lime juice, 1 jalapeno coarsely chopped. Put in a blender and process until smooth. Strain through a fine coffee filter. Fill a tequila shot glass with sangre. Serve 1 shot of each color to sip.

  7. Heh.
OK, I yield. Those cocktails do exist (though the hockey mask one sounds pretty bad).

While they aren't camp counselors, I'm getting closer...
